Autumn’s Rise And Fall
Autumn’s Rise And Fall
Summer draws to a close, as we herald the fall, often brings a season that’s the best of them all
Cooler yet barmy, with evenings so clear, Autumn brings a smile, like a friend who draws near
Golden and red, with hues yellow and brown, the leaves whisper gently as they slowly fall down
Late flowers that bloom with a brightness so sharp Primroses and Pansies bring colour in the dark
Autumn gives us a glow of summer’s embers that fade. The heat that was summer now welcomes the shade
We get a reminder that although some things die, their spirits and souls will rise up to the sky
No wonder it’s my favourite time of the year when the cycle of life makes us glad we are here.
Autumn’s Fall
Autumn’s my favourite time of the year, but this time is different, with COVID to fear
The cases are rising, the deaths creep along, youngsters go partying, even though it is wrong
“The old have the problem” the young seem to say. Our lives lose their value in the “fall” of today
Once “Autumn of life” meant resting and calm, now Autumn breeds worry and COVID alarm
With jabs for pneumonia, shingles, and flu, we still hope for the next one, the one that is new
The leaves turning yellow, red, and then brown, they gently fall as Autumn souls go down
Autumn’s soon over, the clouds gather in, how long before trials of the vaccine begin?
Will winter bring the darkest of times? or bells of hope in Christmas chimes?
We pray to our own God that the future is bright, may spring come around with next Autumn insight.
