As a Cloud

I wandered as a cloud,

Through the endless days and night.

Lost in a misty shroud, 

Which also veiled my sight.

I frowned at the sailing bird,

And grumped at the high hills.

I passed the stream without a word,

And drowned the dry daffodils. 

I carry myself over the scorching sand,

As I look for a way to quench my thirst.

I grow heavy over the ocean as I stand,

And flood the coast as I burst. 

I drift alone in the sky, 

As ignorant and impotent can be.

A shiny sun beam enters my eye,

And changes the whole perspective of me.

As the world changes its focus, 

And the Earth becomes more prominent,

My eyes deceive me, as the world does,

For I find it much more dominant.

 

For the birds are more beautiful,

The ocean a shade too blue.

While the streams are blissfully cool,

I see the sky change its hue.

 

My gaze fixes over the horizon, 

As beautiful as can be.

I witness the last rays of the sun,

As the stars twinkle down on me.
