An Ode To My Teacher

An Ode To My Teacher

2 mins
571

I remember…..

I used to sit in silence lurking in the corner,

At the time of examination

I couldn't write any answer.

Despite knowing everything,

There was no confidence in me at all.

I used to secure very few marks,

I didn't even understand what to do.

I used to feel scared all the time….

That I would be punished at home as well as at the school.

I used to admire my teacher,

I thought maybe I could become like her.

I didn't even have any good qualities in me,

Nor was I capable of doing anything else.

I remember….

When I was just a kid

And you said to me,

"It's okay, we're all friends here."

And treated me like a normal kid.

I remember when I first cried in front of you,

When times were tough for me.

And you said to me,

"It's okay, I'm here."

One day my teacher made me monitor…..

All the children in the class started laughing,

And said, who can't handle herself,

How will she handle the class?

My teacher was a psychologist,

And her method of making me monitor became successful.

I told my teacher,

I don't want to be a monitor.

I can't do this work….

She said, "nothing is impossible in the world."

She gave me great knowledge…..

Look, nothing has changed in the world,

Whatever we think, we will see in front of us.

Everything depends on our thinking…..

It doesn't matter,

If you don't want to become a monitor.

But you must keep one thing in your mind,

And always think that I'm the best.

Then it's like my dreams…..

I got some new wings,

And the days of my life became colorful.

Then I started coming first in class,

And I finished my studies.

After so many years today,

I remembered her again on 'Teacher's Day'.

When my own daughter came to me crying,

And said no one talks to me.

I felt as if my childhood is standing in front of me.

I also taught the same lesson to her,

As my teacher had taught me once.

And I watched like a proud parent,

As she took her first steps.

Now it's me remembering you….

I'll always remember your calming voice,

And be grateful for what I found.
