Almost, But Forever

Almost, But Forever

The evening I don’t want to forget,
Just him and me, the sun half set.
Too much silence, thick and deep,
Moments my heart still tries to keep.....

The awkwardness stood quiet and real,
Until his warmth made it gently heal.
He called me closer, right by his side,
And every fear inside me died.

Fingers tangled within my hair,
A touch so slow, so unaware
Of how my thoughts began to flee
Each time his presence came near me.

He leaned close, near my ear,
And words dissolved, nothing was clear.
I go blank when he’s near my skin,
Not knowing where to start or begin.

No plans, no lines, no need to pretend,
I let the moment softly bend.
If time obeyed my silent plea,
I’d pause it right there just let it be.

He lifted me onto his lap,
My heart lost track of every map.
His heartbeat raced against my chest,
A rhythm I remember best.

His arms around my waist held tight,
Like holding me felt simply right.
Nose brushed skin, lips came near,
The closeness louder than any fear.

He didn’t kiss me no, not then,
But kissed my forehead… again and again.
He held my hand, and that alone
Spoke words my heart had always known.

It was first.
It was new.
It was special, pure, and true.
A kind of moment time can’t erase,
No matter distance, days, or space.

I returned, but never whole,
That evening still lives in my soul.
The scene, the touch, the silent art
They rest forever in my heart.

I wish he knew what it meant to me,
How rare that closeness came to be.
I wish I’d hear him softly say,
“I won’t forget that night… not any day.”
