Advocate, Officer of the Court
Advocate, Officer of the Court
I am an Advocate having double graduation,
Called as Officer of the Court,
Fight for justice for people,
My profession is very risky,
I am conscious of my work,
Burn the midnight oil,
Maintain sleepless nights,
I have sympathy for the pain of everyone.
I am an Advocate,
But I do not and cannot shine like the sun,
O people of the society,
Look into my eyes,
You will know,
You will know,
It's in my mind due to pain,
That I am not treated at par
With other officers of the court.
I am an officer of the court,
This is an umbrella for the rain,
I thought my dark days would end,
My pain would have vanished,
Judiciary created a metaphor
That I am a learned friend,
I want to let you into my brain,
The public forgets me when I face a problem,
My profession is very risky,
I am in tension,
If an opposite party wins,
My client becomes an enemy,
If my client wins, the opposite party
Becomes enemy,
Neither do I get any protection
Nor any safety.
I am an Advocate,
I have a union all over India,
There is an election,
Leaders are being elected,
My union does not fight for
Any Mediclaim insurance
Nor any emergency support
Though the life of
An Advocate is uncertain,
I fight for the house of the clients,
But I do not get any house on rent
Nor any accommodation from the union.
I am an officer of the court,
This is hypocrisy,
The person has no advocacy;
Sometime adorns judiciary,
There are many rules and laws
For the protection of those persons,
Who adorns the judiciary by mala fide ways,
But they abuse advocates
For their ego and illegal motive,
They look at their Glory,
Think that is their Kingdom,
Remembers that fake smile,
But there is no law for the protection
Of an Advocate,
An advocate takes a role,
To disburse a loan from the bank,
But I am not eligible for any loan
By the banks
Or for any credit card.
I am an Advocate,
Though I live in uncertainty,
I always think of others...
but nobody thinks of me.
I am an Advocate,
I am given an opportunity to protect
The victims, innocents, and the weak,
I am there for which
The court functions,
I am serving the common people,
Though I find abusive words
In exchange for services,
Waking up each day
Feeling at the lowest low,
Life happens
And I can't make it stop even if I try,
And I face tough situations,
Not eating,
Not sleeping,
There are the basic things I have to do,
I am proud of my profession.
