A Thousand Years
A Thousand Years
"Good morning, ma'am.
I hope you had a sound sleep,"
I wake to the routine voice.
"Please freshen up, you have messages heap."
"Where am I, which year is this?"
I ask, from the bed about to leap.
"What's wrong with you, this is your house?"
She replies in a voice so deep.
"It is 3020, this is your room.
Remember your time traveled in that keep?"
And then I am able to recall it all.
I go to the window and outside I peep.
I had traveled across time to a thousand years
From where I got nothing to keep.
They lived in such misery with so many problems.
I get teary-eyed while recalling; I weep.
That world was so different, they were so backward
Suddenly I hear a long beep.
My robot housekeeper gives me advice,
"They had down it all and it all they had had to reap."
