A Game Well Played

A Game Well Played

The chessboard has 64 tiles,

Black and white in a uniformly alternate pile.

All the moves are made within its limits,

For us humans the same stark rule mimics.

In this lifetime we have to square the deal,

All the grief and joy in this life seal.

We are like pawns in God’s design,

Like the game, we are with our limitations confined.

The knight advances after a lot of thought,

The idea is to play fair and win the onslaught.

The queen is roused post taking in the pros and cons,

Likewise, we have to weigh the odds and sometimes let bygones be bygones.

Before we depart, we have to pay our dues on the slate,

And win by handing the opponent -a checkmate!
