WE FOR US
WE FOR US
I am me, I am an identity in myself
Don’t need certification to prove,
Validation is not what I seek
Won’t be a societal obligation,
I am me, I am an identity in myself.
Might not be a binary, maybe not even a non-binary
Terms and gender spectrum don’t define me,
What I do and who I am does
Will not be a classification,
I am me, I am an identity in myself.
Special rules and reservations are not my demand
Significant legislation doesn’t become a part of my life,
When I continue to be chided by the society
All I command is my share of dignity and respect,
I am me, I am an identity in myself.
Wish to make friends with the wide world
Not to be stigmatized and labeled,
But to bring out my radiance
And fly to dreams I aspire,
I am me, I am an identity in myself.
Waiting desperately for change to usher in
And break the shackles of orthodox thought,
Explore outside my narrow confines
And breathe the air of belongingness,
I am me, I am an identity in myself.
Equality remains a distant dream
Universal acceptance is not my need,
Discover my place in this diversity
To be a part of society is all that I seek,
I am me, I am an identity in myself.
Stand by my side to find me
Give me my freedom and rights,
Be someone who battles to include “us” in “we”.
