403 Hamlet Leisey Street
403 Hamlet Leisey Street
403 Hamlet Leisey street
Where you don’t belong
City pin - 89934, I wrote
And dropped it in the mailbox
Hoping it would reach her
At 403 Hamlet Leisey, She looked in the mirror
The dull eyes looked back,
With all the weight, She had gained
on that skeleton
And on her ugly face
Underneath those freckles
Still looking at the mirror
She sat on the grass
The sun was going down,
It was getting dark
But not darker than it was
For the eyes in her heart
For the last time
She picked up her phone
And scrolled down through all the hate
Booming on her social media page
Writing all those words
In her head
She wasn’t perfect
Wasn’t what she had seen them be
After everything she had done
To fix herself she failed
She was the mistake
That god had made
She was tired of
Always seeing the world
Through the tears
Rolling down her cheek
But then she laughed in relief,
Knowing today would be the last time
She closed her eyes through the chaos
Her heart started to beat faster
And faster
And when she was about to end it
She heard a knock
And The doorbell rung
Startled she got up
Dragging herself to the door
And saw a letter slide down
At her feet, Addressed to her
it was By a writer unknown
To her, to her alone
She tore open the envelope
And sure it was not a mistake
Her n
ame is at the top and a poem below
But the sender's anonymous
She began reading the words
For the first time through the chaos
Her soul was silent
The letter read,
Hi, I am the tears in your eyes
The pain in your heart
And the fighter in your soul
I was the one who
Heard your voice through the screams
That one voice begging you
To not give up on yourself
I am the words you told your heart
When they said you aren’t good enough
The words you told your heart
When they said you don’t fit in your dress
The words you told your heart
When they said no one likes you
The words when they called you a mistake
I am the words you told the heart,
That, It will be okay
Today I will tell you
That you are beautiful
You are all that beauty that was carried away
In the storm of what people think of you
In the storm of social media comments
In the storm of comparison and judgment
Today I will give you the courage
To stand up on those feet at which this letter fell
And find yourself in this storm
I will give you the courage
To let your heart know
That you are good enough
You cannot shatter in the chaos of other’s opinions
Look at the scrambled address, the name of your street
Reordered they spell out, I hate myself
But do you have a reason to?
Perfect is a myth
And somewhere deep inside I know you know it
Bring yourself out of that corner of your heart
And you now know how beautiful you are
