First Day To School

Just seems like yesterday, when I first held you close,

Blessed that this happiness, for me God had chose.

Since then don’t know, where days and nights went by,

Life was all about your giggles, and your little cries.

My eyes always on you, my hands always ready to hold,

Had you always by my side, through summers and through the cold.

And now, here has comes the time, people say to school you must go,

A new life to start, a whole new world to know.

The dawn arrived, my heart skipping beats,

Worried of all the challenges, you will have to meet.

Will they know what might trouble you, or when food is what you want,

Thought ‘if no one understands you’, is what haunts.

Confusions in my head and a worry in my heart,

I leave you to your class, to make a new start.

Tossing around, so restless I feel,

Seconds look minutes, and hours feel like weeks.

Just then, I hear the school bell ring,

Getting a glimpse of your smile, make my worries shrink.

The warmth of your hug, and the shine in your eyes,

Yes now I know, you will just be alright.
