Tug Of War With Time
Tug Of War With Time
Time crept behind me stealthily
Cloaked like a thief stalking me.
I confronted Time; and questioned :
'You coward, why don't you have
The guts to look into my eyes.
Once and for all tell me it's time
To pack my bags, bid a final goodbye
Instead of dragging your feet
Dare you to catch up with me
Dare you to confront me
I do not seek any pity'!
Time defended:
'I was merely being kind,
Allowing you some more time
To finish writing that last
Chapter of your life,
Wrap it up all nice,
Get published as an author
So your readers are not deprived.
I was so sure the book would be
Amongst the top ten bestsellers,
Listed on New York Times...
Hence decided to walk behind
Slowing my pace each time
Increasing the gap between us
Taking the risk of cheating on God
To delay serving the death warrant
I've brought.
Friend so sorry your time stops right now.
Your fault, you speeded it up.
I'm sorry the ink on your manuscript
Will dip below the horizon
Swallowed by the distant sealine'
Moral:
Never mess with time. Never procrastinate.
Catch the bull by its horn...
Time does not wait.
'You may delay, but time will not'.
