Runaway
Runaway
Her foundation hiding the bruises on her face
with each passing day, it slowly builds its weight
she keeps a tally of the times it happened on her thigh
she feels so alone at night when no one hears her cry
Cut to the quiet guy who loves her so
all I want is to hold her and let the pain die slow
I watch her with tears in my eyes
I can do little more than a sigh
I want to help but don’t know what to say
I pretend not to notice but the marks never fade
I pray one day she’ll find the courage to run away
it tears me apart to know she feels worthless
I want to show her how much this life is worth
