Because I Was Born A Girl

Because I Was Born A Girl

2 mins

I can be a daughter for whom you care like a little princess

I can be a girlfriend you wanna fall for

I can be a wife you would love to flourish all your love

I can be a mother to whom you would confess each and every mischief you made

But if I want to,

I can be a boy too.

Because I was born a girl

I can cook delicious, sizzling dinner that would leave your mouth watering

I can do the dishes as well after you had it all

I can clean and broom and dust and waft

Each and every corner of the house

I can knit and stitch and weave and purl

New and comfortable sweaters for you

But If I want to,

I can be the CEO of your chuffed 9 to 5 job,

Or I can be the corporate ambassador of your organization

Because I was born a girl

I can wear lehenga-choli

And dance like butterflies in the garden

I can wear saree

And do all the rituals in the morning puja

I can wear skirt

And break the dance floor by my heels

I can apply lipstick, kohl, blusher

And take ages to gear up for the blowout

But if I want to,

I can wear coat and trousers

And be the host of tonight’s event.

Or, I can wear your jog pants

And go for morning strolls

Because I was born a girl

So never try to impose

Your freaking clichés over me

I can be what I want to be.

But I pity you,

For you can’t be a 24 hour househusband,

And if you think you can be,

I dare you,

I dare you to wear my clothes in the party tonight

(I know you would never)

In this patriarchal society,

You are still less than me.

Because I was born a girl, not YOU
