SOUL STIRRINGS

SOUL STIRRINGS

1 min 393 1 min 393

Something flickers ;

Something trembles ;

something moves within me

and permits me to capture

what is essential to existence ;

those aspirations which

keep me alive

those fluttering which

make me fly

those stirrings of the soul

which indicate all the

difference between death and life.

What are they but

a symbol of the vital force

which pervades every pore of my

being, and generates the

movement of my spirit?

Does it seem too much to hope

for the heavenly gift to grow

into an animated abode of

the eternal within me ?

My fervent wish is but this -

and as long as that single sanctum

of soul survives in me

I shall believe myself blessed.
