Wonderful soul

Once in a college class room there were several students. A student stood up and complained to the professor "My father had gifted me an expensive watch for my birthday and someone has stolen it when I stepped out during the break". It was a very short 5 minutes break between classes and hence professor suspected that someone within the class had stolen the watch. Professor asked all students to stand up and blindfold themselves with handkerchief.

After all students complied, he started frisking one by one. In this process, professor found the watch in the pocket of a boy. Professor went back to his desk and asked them to remove the blindfold. He handed over the watch back to its owner and continued the class. The boy who had stolen was worried that any moment the professor may disclose his name and he will be banished forever. The professor completed the class and left quietly. The boy came next day in fear that he may be punished, days passed, months passed by and even the academic year completed, and yet the professor didn't reveal the boy's name. The students finished college and moved on in life. The boy who has stolen the watch went on to become a very successful businessman. He scaled great heights in his profession and was a respected gentleman. 

One day he received invitations for the college reunion and he was asked to be the chief guest of the reunion. He arrived to a warm welcome from everyone. Immediately after arrival, he started looking for the professor. As soon as he found him, he fell to the professor's feet paying his respect. He slowly whispered to the professor that he owed his life to him and all his success he had achieved was because of the professor. The professor was shocked to hear and asked him how was that possible.

Sir, you didn't disclose my name when I stole the watch in my class, I had decided that I would commit suicide if people came to know that I was the thief. But you didn't disclose my name even after the year completed. I owed that day that I will life an honest life. You gave me a chance to correct my mistake and lead a meaningful life.

The professor was surprised to hear this. He told him on that day after all students had blindfolded, he also blindfolded himself and searched for the watch. Afterall all were his students and he didn't want to look down on any of them by knowing who was the thief. Only now he came to know it was him.

Years rolled down in the eyes of the student and once again he bowed to the professor with respect and told him that his forgiveness made him an honest man that he was today.

In today's world, people look for a simple reason to find fault and showcase others mistakes.

• In the family, we find mistakes of siblings, parents, spouse and even kids
• At office we are busy blaming the superiors, colleagues and juniors
• Find mistakes in society and government
• Even few people spend time in finding faults with others in Facebook, twitter etc.,

When someone commits a mistake knowingly or unknowingly, forgive them and give them a chance to save their self-respect.

Doing so will make the person who knows what mistake they have committed and have been forgiven, he gets a chance to correct himself and lead a respectful life.

As Gandhij has said forgiving and asking for forgiveness is an act of bravery and not a sign of cowards

Let us be the people with wonderful soul of forgiveness in a world who is busy finding faults..!!!
