“Chintu! Come here, help your brother, Tonu, to clean himself,” calls mother.

“Yes, Ma! I’m coming,” Chintu comes running from the backyard.

She is living with her parents and her elder brother in her village. Chintu’s brother Tonu is a mentally retarded child. He can’t do his work himself.

Chintu’s family is very poor. Her parents can’t even spend much for her brother’s treatment. Her mother is a home maker. Her father is a rickshaw puller. Even though they are poor, they are very happy.

Chintu is studying V std in a Govt. school. Her school is 4 km away from her village. Everyday, Chintu goes to school on her bicycle.

Chintu does not like her brother because of his physical condition. Her friends make fun of her at school calling her ‘Lunatic’s sister’. She feels upset and gets angry on them.

Chintu goes home angrily and throws her bag.

“I’ll not go to school”, she shouts.

“Why, what happened to you, my child?” asks Mother.

My friends are teasing me as “Lunatic’s sister”, cries Chintu. I feel very ashamed. “Why did I get a brother like him?” asks Chintu.

“I hate him”, Chintu shouts angrily.

Mother pacifies her and says that he is a ‘God’s child’.

The next day at school,

Chintu’s class teacher Mala comes to the class in the first hour.

“Hello! My dear students, how are you, all?”, asks the teacher.

“We are all fine, Mam”.

Good. Today I’m going to talk about “Love”.

The teacher narrates a story about showing love towards others unconditionally. She says that loving our parents, our siblings and others will bring happiness to us. This love will change their life also.

Chintu hears the story. During the interval, she meets her teacher personally and speaks about the incident that happened the day before.

The teacher understands her state of mind and advises her to start loving him unconditionally. She told, “You will see the changes in him and feel happy also”.

Chintu’s teacher believes in this group prayer. So, the next day, at her class, she instructs the students to do prayers for Chintu’s brother.

The teacher says that, God will definitely answer for their prayers. So, from that day onwards, Chintu’s classmates pray for her brother.

The next day onward, Chintu goes home quickly as soon as the school gets over. She starts narrating stories, talking and playing with her brother. She has started loving her brother so much.

Chintu takes care of him as her younger brother. As the day goes on, her brother starts listening to her stories and responds to her.

Chintu and her family feel very happy. Her mother gets surprised to see the changes in her son’s behavior.

Gradually, her son comes to a normal condition. Chintu’s love for her brother has changed him and also her friends stop teasing her. She feels very happy about the changes that happened in her brother. He becomes an ordinary child. Chintu thanks her teacher and her classmates. She thanks God Almighty specially for bringing her brother back to sanity. Chintu says, “Oh, God! I thank you so much for giving me such brother”.

She feels happy and satisfied for bringing up the changes in her brother’s life. These changes happened because of her unconditional love for her brother.

“True love on our beloved ones will bring tremendous changes in them.”

Moral : LOVE CONQUERS THE WORLD AND EVERYTHING.
