Unconditional Bond Of Love

"Hi bro, good morning. Bro, you know there's a new shopping mall come up near our college and I'll be going there with my friend after college. Ok.”

Rahul, “Ok you can go. Take care and tell me once your done, I'll send the driver to pick you.”

“Ok bro, I am leaving for college. See you later.”

Oh sorry, I didn't introduce myself, I am Tina but everyone preferably calls me Sweety. I reside with my elder brother ‘Rahul’, my Babhi ‘Ria’ and my ever cool friend cum brother in crime ‘Neil’.

I'll tell you one secret, though my elder brother is very strict, he loves me a lot. Even more than anything. I am his heartbeat and Neil as I already mentioned is less of brother and more like a friend. I am so lucky to have such loving adorable brothers who give me first priority than anything or anyone else. My Babhi is a nice person but since she is new, I don't trust her much. Shoo, that's a secret, please don't tell anyone. And never trust anyone so easily.

My parents stay in another country and most of my life I have rather lived with my brothers and, sincerely speaking I consider them as my parents as they have done much more than what parents do.

I have to rush to college before I am late. "Driver, get me as soon as possible to the college".

Oh no, I am late, I have to get in the class. “Ashu, come let's go.” 

“Tina, you come by car and still you’re late?”

Ashu you know na, there is so much traffic or else I’m not the type who would come late.

“Ok dear let's concentrate on our studies.”

The day goes by and in the evening around 4.00 pm. lectures get over and I with Ashu reach the mall.

“Wow see Ashu, such lovely clothes are displayed here”. We both are mesmerized by the variety of different things displayed in the mall.

“Oh Ashu, see the dress, isn't it pretty?” “Yes Tina, it will look good on you. Buy it.”

As usual, my brother had transferred cash to my debit card and I bought something and reached home.

It was a tiring day so as soon as I reached, I rushed into my beautiful room changed and went to the kitchen to fetch me some snacks.

My maid had prepared my favorite dish and I relished it. Just then Neil came in and said you're done then come to my room to see what I have brought.

I went in, and what do I see… “Oh, I can't believe it a new iPhone? Brother must have given you na? I'll also ask for one”. 

Neil, “Sweety, you can take this I'm fine with my old mobile. And anyways you are more important than a gadget. Ahh”

“Thanks, Neil, but it’s a gift from bro cause you stood first in your Civil Engineering final semester. You keep it but first I'll click some pictures with everyone.”

As I entered the elder brother's room I realized he was hot-tempered so I slowly peeped in. When Rahul bro is angry I don’t dare go near him. But, he saw me and said, “Tina you need not bother about anything you come in.”

I went near bro and set beside him still fidgeting with the mobile. He saw it and took it from me and switched on the camera saying come on Sweety let's take a selfie. Click…Click…Click. So many selfies and not even one pic would state that bro was hot just a moment ago. 

Wow that great, and thanks to me he loves me so much that his anger melted. This is the love he has for me. I am blessed. It's not that he is always cool, he is strict, certain about rules but still he is the best. He has toiled day night to give us this beautiful house, with a beautiful garden, cars and all lavish things one would dream about. He manages his business and family by himself. Neil has also finished his studies and will be soon going abroad for specialization. Just three days are left for Neil to go. I am still thinking, how to react. This is probably the first time he is going away from us, that too U.S…

The day has finally arrived. Whole night neither me nor bro nor Neil have been able to sleep. Finally I move towards Neil’s room. He almost finished packing. I see his document folder on the table and hand it over to him.

“Thanks Sweety. I know you must have been awake whole night. Right?”

I just hugged him and cried bitterly, I was inconsolable. I can’t imagine even a single day without Neil. Just then Rahul bro came and hugged us both saying anytime we miss Neil we will go to see him. As said, if you have to part away for something good just for a while then go for it.

Two days have passed since Neil left, we are back on track. As usual I go to college. But today there is something unusual. I look out for Ashu. But she is nowhere to be seen. I try calling her but her mobile is unreachable. There seems to be some strike in college and I return back home.

Just as I enter I remember that no one is home today. Rahul brother has gone for a business meeting, Babhi is gone to her maiden home and the maid is gone to her native place. I close the door and go to my room.

It’s late in the evening, I am still alone. Brother called up to inform him that he will be delayed. As I am watching my favourite serial I hear the door bell ring. I go and open the door.

“Hi Tina, is Rahul back home.” 

“Sunny, hi after a long time. No he has not yet come. But you can come in. He’ll be back in ten minutes.” I replied as I closed the door.

I knew Sunny, he is bro’s best friend over the years so I did’nt feel uncomfortable with him. As he sat surfing the T.V channels I went to prepare tea. Just in a second I heard Sunny answer a call and then he walked in the kitchen.

Sunny, “Need help Tina?” I just nodded my head to say no. Then as I finished pouring the tea he came close to me and pulled the tray saying he would hold it. I didn’t react and we both went to the sitting room.

He started asking me about college, my friends and so on. Suddenly while chatting he came near me and held my hand. I was scared and just got up from there. He came close and hugged me saying that I am just like his sister. A chill went down my spine as I knew that no brother will ever touch his sister the way Sunny touched. I didn’t know what to do. He just threw me on the sofa and pushed himself closed to me. I resisted his touch but he tried to someone hold me back. Just then the door bell rang and he moved back.

I ran to open the door and to my luck it was my brother. I hugged him and cried. He didn’t know what to say, he was all shocked to see me frightened and crying. He walked in and saw Sunny. Sunny was sitting as even nothing had happened. Rahul asked him why I was crying, what happened. He said, “Nothing, I was checking out how strong your sister was.” Rahul understood what might have happened and he just bashed Sunny. “How dare you touch my sister, don’t you remember that you too have sister. What if someone tried this with her?”

“Tina, wake up. You have to go to college.” I heard my Mom yelling from downstairs. I just jumped up my bed. I can't believe, I had been dreaming all this while. Though it was not a good dream but still it had a message. I Wish I had Rahul and Neil as my brothers…. Not just me but hope all brothers were like them, this world would be a better place. But as it is said, we don’t get whatever we dream of…..
