Branch 2 (Science Fiction). The story follows the genre of sci-fi and fantasy.
The lake in the forest was very mysterious with several geysers underneath. Plumes of boiling water exploded into the air, knocking Charu off her feet. Spray from the geysers fell about her grey hair flattening it into a greasy heap. “Why didn’t I follow those signs?”, she regretted. Then she knew she has to break rules to reach her possession. She pulled out her notebook and had a look again at the rough sketch she had.
The godown had some weird magnetism that attracted the pockets of energy. It wasn’t spooky or even unsettling but he sensed something was wrong. To be precise something was out of place. Uncle Vincent cautiously observed the place once again but he wasn’t sure. He climbed the steps to the exit of the godown.
The scientists were glued to the screen observing the 3D model. The model was developed using x-ray crystallography, there was an ellipsoidal shape with crowns or spikes on it. Their discussion seemed tense and the entire room perspiration in their heat. They tried contacting the four assistants who were travelling to rescue Uncle Vincent to bring him back urgently. Neither of them attended the call and it increased their fear.
As per the mathematical analysis, the rate at which this virus would spread was alarming. It all started with one of the subjects, when Uncle Vincent was sequencing the genomes that they found this virus under electron microscopy. The subject the very next day developed symptoms of cold, cough and fever and soon it affected his intracranial region of the brain. Blood clots formed rapidly in the brain and he suffered paralysis and ultimately died the same day. The symptoms were now observed among the other subjects in their laboratory.
The scientists suspected that it was those radiations that triggered the inactive variant of the virus. The subject might have contracted the inactive strain back in the past as this was similar to the influenza virus. The radiations provided a sustainable environment for the virus to become active and thrive.
Charu never had any abilities to live other’s dreams. It had become easier though at the year she was in. Dreams have gone online and summoning one's dreams were vey much easier for her. It was after that she became a telecom operator for an app “Devil’s dreams”, she found herself entwined between dreams of humans. Last night after living on Uncle Vincent’s dream she got to know where the sword was.
Abhay who preferred to be the EVIL looked at the mirror. When he said mirrors are hallucinations people laughed at him. Now he can move those mirrors that can be a virtual reality of people’s dreams. Being a hero or a villain both were jobs assigned by their university. People who pulled off their roles as scripted were paid well and promotions happened quickly. People who failed were simply shot dead. After all, he was not one among the human race. Being a supervillain was his role on the bigger stage.
Abhay desperately needed the sword and his plan was to have Charu has the bait. It all fell in place as she fell in his trap and volunteered to be a telecom operator for his app. He knew the techniques for brain reprogramming. He can superimpose with people’s dreams and make dreams surreal and as well a reality. Abhay’s mission was to discover the sword and stop Vincent’s experiment but at the same time protect Vincent from any dangers. Abhay knew Uncle Vincent was at “Collection Godown”. He started his way to the place.
There was an ominous silence except for the turning of the pages in the sacred book. The hymns went fast and it looked completely unintelligible as if some archaic poetry was read aloud.
” The raincloud is soaked in blood,
From the anger of the gods,
Skydome rocks the rocket impact,
Water cries out the pain,
The curses you bestowed upon yourselves,
Will be undone with a sacrifice”.
Uncle Vincent was bewildered as he was surrounded by the members of “The Ethnic Jungle Monsters”. He knew that his end was near and he hoped his assistants reached on time. The bloodstained machette in their hands made him quiver in fear. The hymns seemed like rumbling of the thunders.
The members wore a garland around their necks. They had sips of wine, honey and water. Olive oil was sprinkled on Uncle Vincent’s head and water was poured down on him from a handheld vessel. Occassionally they raised their arms and looked at the empty sky high above. There few other animals before him waiting to be sacrificed. Sheep, pigs and hens were decorated with garlands and wine was poured over them. A girl member carried the machete in a basket over her head. The sheep were sacrificed before Vincent’s eyes. The blood was offered on the altar and the meat was added to the cooking vessel.
Evan had shoulder-length hair that was tousled with the raging winds. Her eyes were keen as she silently observed for any suspicious sounds. Lista signalled Evan to step over the twisted branches that lay on the ground. Inker and Lara were looking at the map with the directions.
It was after request to her family doctor she managed to get a copy of Yuvaan’s autopsy report and what it revealed shocked Charu. Though his death was due to a gunshot, he was injected with some virus and the timeframe indicates the day she arrived in Kochi. It again puzzled her, she never had any idea that these incidents would follow but someone who is aware of everything had predicted the incidents as if he plotted it. She began to think about her unfinished story what she had written. She had lost her copies as she cleaned her room before leaving abroad. She was blank on what that story was.
The girl was ready with the machette in her hand to sacrifice Vincent. His body jittered in fear, as he tried to take one last look around he saw Charu. Charu transforming into Sheryl Varghese. The entire room went dark and he remembered nothing but he saw his assistants Lisa and Evan carrying him.
The handheld self-guide helped Charu reach the place where Uncle Vincent was. She never had hoped of fighting against the odds. She remembered Sheryl’s words insert the code and I will help you. She entered the code and began to fill a transformation in her.
