The Mystery of the Vault

Detective John was a professional detective whose help even the local police took, to nab the culprits. He had a partner named William who helped him in solving the cases.

One day he got a call from the police officer Srivastav, who asked John and William to accompany them to Mr. Sukhani's house. A precious diamond necklace and Rs. One lakh cash were stolen from a vault in his bedroom. Now the password was only known to Mr and Mrs Sukhani!

After doing initial investigation detective John and his partner William found a broken nail inside the vault. On finding out, it was clear that it was the half broken nail of the maid in the house who cooked food there.

The maid was questioned. However she pleaded not guilty and began to cry. William thought that the maid may not have done the crime. William's sixth sense was right most of the time and John fully believed him.

On further investigation, the smell of detergent powder was found coming from the vault. The Sukhani family had a servant whose job was only to wash the clothes.

The servant was called. He became nervous and started running away. However he was caught by the other servants of the house.

On being questioned by the police the servant said that he had sneaked into the bedroom yesterday and hid under the curtain. Just then Mr. Sukhani had come there and opened the vault. He managed to see the password. For avoiding being caught he kept the nail of the maid inside the vault , which he had found in the kitchen. Probably the nail might have broken down while cutting the vegetables.

Mr. Sukhani thanked Inspector Srivastav and John and William, for finding the thief and the valuables.
