The Diamond Robbery

It was a lovely morning. The students of Blue Hills academy were busy, as they were attempting an important test. After half an hour, the teacher announced, "Okay, students, time's up! Please check whether you've written your details and answers correctly. Then, submit them here on my desk. Is that clear?"

All the students nodded their heads. When the tests were submitted, they scurried out of the classroom. Lucy asked, "Hey! Were you able to complete Question 12? I found it a bit difficult. "Yes! I found it difficult, too. But, I attempted it" Mia said. Coco said, "Well, it's good that our tests are finally finished."

The others giggled.

Suddenly, Lily's phone rang. Riiinnggggg! "Oh! It's my cousin, Rosy." Lily observed. "Hello, Rosy! Yup, I am fine! What about you? My tests are finally over!! Yes... What?! Theft?! Oh no!!! Wait, I am coming there!" Lily turned towards her friends and said, "Girls, it's a big catastrophe!!! As you know, that my cousin owns a jewelry shop. She informed me that someone has stolen a diamond worth Rupees 156 crores from her shop. I said I'd come there and help her find the thief." "Calm yourself down, Lily. Don't worry, I am sure we'll find out that notorious thief. We're coming with you." Coco said, confidently.

So, after Rosy's call, the four friends set out to complete the mission. They took a taxi, and went. After about one or two hours, they finally reached in front of a shop named 'Dazzling Diamonds'.

They went inside the shop. Inside, there were beautiful jewels made up of pure diamond. The jewels were sparkling. Lily spotted Rosy, so she scurried over to her.

"Hello everyone. I am Rosy, Lily's cousin. I knew that the diamond could be stolen, as it's worth a lot of money. I'd hidden it in that fish tank. But, unfortunately, someone stole it!! Oh, Woe is me!!!!" Rosy said sadly, while pointing towards a fish tank.

Coco ran towards it and observed the tank. "Well, to be honest, someone must've noticed the diamond, and then he/she must've stolen it!"

Rosy agreed. "Yes, you're right, but now how will we find out the thief?" Mia was looking around, here and there. Then suddenly, she got an idea. "Wait, guys! There's still a ray of hope. Look there. There's a CCTV camera! We can go in the control room and then we can see the footage. I'm sure that there would be some trace of the thief." Everyone happily agreed to her idea.

They quickly scampered towards the control room, as Rosy led the way. "Security, we need to see the CCTV footage." Rosy said to a man with a long moustache.

He opened the door and everyone followed him.

When they saw the CCTV footage, they discovered many clues. "Oooh....so the thief has black hair......he's stout. Hey! Look! He's talking to someone. Increase the volume,please." Coco said . In the CCTV footage, everyone could hear the thief holler, "Yes, Yes, so I've succeeded in stealing that sparkling diamond! The owner hid it in a very wrong place! It's so easy to notice! Where should we meet next so I can sell this diamond to you? Okay... I'll be there at Oxford Street, 1290. At the coffee shop ? Okay!" 

Rosy felt a bit embarrassed. Lily consoled her, "It's okay, Rosy. There's no need to feel embarrassed! We all make mistakes. Isn't it ? Come on, Smile!!" 

Rosy smiled and she was grateful to all the girls for helping her. For a moment, everyone was silent. Coco was the first one to break the silence, she said " Okay, I think we should hurry. We really don't know whether the thief is still in the coffee shop or not." "Oh yes! I almost forgot about it!!! Let's go!!" Lucy said. 

They grabbed a taxi and they started going towards the coffee shop near Oxford Street. After about half an hour or so, they had arrived. They scurried inside hastily and then started looking here and there for the thief. 

"I can't see that thief anywhere! I think he left the place." Mia said, sadly. Rosy's eyes widened. "Let's ask people around. Maybe they have some useful information?" Rosy suggested. 

Everyone agreed. Coco tried to ask a lady but she was busy talking on her phone, "Er... Excuse me, have you seen a man...." "Shhh!! Can't you see I'm busy?!" The lady interrupted Coco.

Lily asked a waiter, "Excuse Me, have you seen a stout man, with black hair, anywhere here around? Well, he actually looked like a thief. And forget about how he 'looks'.... he is a thief!!" The waiter replied, "Hello Miss. I think yes. That man was really rude towards me. He ordered me to get a cappuccino, but then I overheard him saying that he would reach a restaurant named 'Italian Delight' He left about ten minutes ago. Hope it's helpful!!"

Lily told everyone about the thief's next location. They quickly reached the restaurant and then started looking for the thief. "I can't see the thief anywhere! I hope he hasn't gone from here!" Mia said. Then suddenly, a man who was stout and had black hair walked past them. He was talking loudly on the phone, "Hey!! Yes! I've reached. Okay! Catch you later!!"

"Let's follow him" Lucy suggested.

"I've an idea, we'll go towards the thief dressed up as waitresses. Maybe we get some useful information?" Rosy said. "Cool idea!" Lucy replied.

Lucy, Lily and Coco dressed up as waitresses while Mia and Rosy pretended to be regular customers. "Hello Sir! May I serve you something?" Coco asked the thief politely. "Yes, Please get an Italian Pasta." He replied. Then after 15 minutes, Coco served him the pasta, she turned around to leave, but something caught her eye. She saw that there was something sparkly in his shirt's pocket. She tried to take a sneak peek, and she saw the stolen diamond!! She scurried away from there, and informed Lucy and Lily.

They both gasped. "Call the cops. I think they should be able to deal with it." Lucy said. "Hello? Good afternoon sir! Actually, my sister owns a jewelry shop......the diamond.....stolen....yes.....Please come urgently!!" Coco carefully whispered so that no one would pry. After few minutes, the police reached . He asked the girls about the thief, and Lily pointed out at him, "Sir, he's the one. Coco saw the stolen diamond in his pocket." Coco nodded.

The police officer said, "Okay, let me deal with him!" Then, he went towards the thief and sat down beside him. The thief was stammering, and he was agitated, "Uh... Wh-What happened... sir? Are you...loo-looking for a th-th-thief?!" "Yes, I am. He is very wayward. But why are you stammering, you're not the one, right?" The officer replied. "Uh! No, of course not!! I am not the one....hehhehe!" he replied. The thief tried to run away, but the officer caught him, he took out the diamond and handed it over to Lily, who was standing just beside him. Lily quickly raced towards her sister, and handed her the diamond, "Here Rosy, take the diamond!" The police took the thief to the police station. Rosy was really thankful to all the girls. When they reached at her shop, Rosy even gave them a treat! "Thank-you to all of you for helping me! Next time, I'll be more careful and alert and also hide things in a better place!!" she said. Everyone laughed!!!

Wasn't it a mysterious adventure?!
