The Brier Girl

There was a girl 

Who loved to go to the garden 

Whenever she went there, she’d remove the thorns from the roses. 

She kept the thorns in a small bag that Hung on her left arm 

“Now no one will get hurt,” she told herself as she smiled. 

However, at the end of the day, when she’d come back home, her body would ache more and more 

And she had no idea why. 

One day when she was looking in the mirror she saw her left side. It was completely red and bruised. 

She gasped at the sight. “How did this happen..?” And that’s when she took a look at her hands. They were all cut and scraped. 

How had she not noticed them before? How did it get there? 

The girl kept on wondering for days what could be the reason. She couldn’t stop thinking about it even when she went to the garden. 

One day, the pain was too much to bear. So unbearable that she couldn’t get up from bed and it was difficult to breathe. 

She soon realized she was dying. She cried and cried. 

Her body gave up, as she curled up on the side of the bed, tearing streaming down her face. 

However as she took her last breath, she noticed something on the bed. 

Her eyes shut tight forever but her soul found Something.
