Stand By Me - Part 21

There was an awkward silence. Mr Khurana looked a bit confused. My father came to his rescue. He politely stated that it was disheartening to learn about the tragedy and offered his condolences. Mr. Khurana became a tad emotional. My mother quickly offered him water but he refused.

Suddenly the phone beeped again. A message from him again. "Call me once you are free", it read. I didn't respond, was a bit zapped from the sudden turn of events.

My father was very sympathetic about Rohan. Mr. Khurana checked his phone. The cab had arrived. It was time for him to leave as he had a flight to catch. He quickly glanced at me as he got up to leave. He then told my mother there was no rush. He was kind enough to understand that I still had two years to be a graduate, as if I was going to drop out to marry someone at Wall Street, really?

My mother smiled a bit. Mr. Khurana departed. There was another message from Rithvik. Before I could read it, my mother called me. My real test was about to begin.
