They were opposites but they never felt that difference between them. People may say they are on the extremes but they had a connection, a string of love bridged that extreme. It was in the second year of college that they had found some liking for each other. Until then it all seemed chaos. Anita has never been cut on any basis whenever she has expressed her thoughts, she thought she always said the right thing, she thought she knew a lot than her counterparts, but when someone does give her a lecture on how to do something she understood this person is not easy to be tackled. She infact liked it, not necessarily at that moment, but as days went by. Anita had an idea about feeling up and flying when she made it to a winning point everytime, but she realized it was her who stood alone at the end of the day. No one had even become her best friend, she never noticed it, until she met this person. She understood how some individuals can have really a bunch of people around them, yet never a tussle, never a spark, it is always smiles and laughters.

It seemed friendship was sweeter than anything Anita had tasted. Without being aware of her state she found out how close has she had become to the person she once despised, Surya. Anita never looked for anyone else now, she felt the friend of her life has been found. She could feel the wetness of those palms when holding each other's while crossing roads on broad sunlight, she could sense the smell of Surya when they both stood ironing each other on the train. Surya asked if Anita could come home one day, "don't worry it will only be my mom at home" Surya said. Surya's mom went to buy milk since an unwelcomed guest has arrived. Anita stepped into every room there, like a kid roaming the toy market. Anita found her best friend's room more personal than hers, she even rubbed the bed cover and knew it belonged to her already, she could not resist but to feel the smell of it, she laid herself on it and grazed her stretched arm around it, as if it was a real person. Surya stood there and saw Anita getting into a dreamland. Anita's voice gave Surya a compulsion to sit beside her. Those eyes connected, they stood connected, Surya came close to Anita and leaned on to her, yet a hair's gap was there. Once and for all Anita forgot her distance from Surya, those eyes had a web of light unleashing from it, a web that made Anita forget who she is. She started feeling Surya's hair with her finger, those long hairs resting on the bent hip had so much fragrance in them she could feel the moisture in her fingers. It was not because of those beautiful Jasmine on her head. Surya giggled and gave Anita a slap, that was as painful as the morning breeze on her face, accompanied with the laughter of Surya's bangles. The bed silently rested in moist air in the room, yet so warm, for all the dryness it had taken all these years.
