Chapter 3:A new king and a new Boon

"Will you do anything I ask, as guru Dakshina. Be sure my boy once promised you can't say no" said Sumali to Dashanana. 

Dashanana

"Grandfather, I am a warrior who was built by your own hands, you think I'll step back. I am your grandson, say what to do I'll do it without talking back"

Sumali's eyes fill with tears of joy and proudness. He says, 

"My son, I know what you are capable of. Before you were born Lanka was ruled by no other than your grandfather, which is me, but Kubera used his cunningness and overthrew me from my throne. I want you to take it back for me, as I am old I can't fight, will you help me, my boy"

Dashanana replies with rage

" I never knew that my brother did such hideous thing, I promise you not only to give this as your guru Dakshina but also I'll avenge you "

Dashanana enters the palace, with rage, he screams "KUBERA!!! YOU COWARD, COME OUT "

Kubera Rush's to the throne room and sees dashanana in rage. Kubera 

"You stupid little boy, how dare you call me a coward, and you are in my palace. Guards!!! throw him in the cell let him rot there"

Kaikesi runs towards dashanana and asks forgiveness from Kubera for her son, Kubera gets angry seeing kaikesi in front of. She had taken away his father from him and his mother ilavidha. 

Kubera in anger

"How dare you enter my palace you filthy demons, I would have forgiven that small boy but you, I can't you took my father from your black magic, I promised my mother to kill you and today I fulfill that. "

Kubera closes his palm and opens it with fire in, he pulls his hand back to throw it on kaikesi but suddenly the ground starts to rumble, kubera falls down and sees that was caused by none other than Dashanana. 

His eyes start to become red, he lifts his head and says 

"Kubera you know there is a reason behind my name and I will show you WHY!!!!!! "

Dashanana who was a normal human boy now unleashed his real demonic form. 

He had ten heads and ten hands, thou he was a boy he had a huge amount of energy in him. The fire could be seen in all his eyes. 

Dashanana with all his head

"This is your last stay on the earth, with my own hands I will assist you to the path of heaven" He then pulls his hand back, makes a fist to punch kubera but suddenly kaikesi holds his hand and tells

"Son, don't. If you kill him then there will be no difference between you and him. "

Dashanana pulls in his heads back and takes a big breath and talks

"Kubera, think this as an endowment from my mother. Now leave this land and never return, if you do that will be the last time you'll ever see "

Kubera was confused and was trembling with fear, as he heard he starts to run away. 

After hearing the sound visharva and others come running towards the palace. 

Visharva sees Kubera running away, he holds his hands to stop and ask him what was the reason, but he doesn't talk but pulls his hand back and starts to walk away. 

Visharva goes into the palace to see what had happened and sees the palace was nearly destroyed. He asks kaikesi and she tells him all. 

After getting to know that his son dashanana was also a demon and did this he gets really sad. 

Visharva

" Son, I never thought you would do such a thing, he was your brother. I know who made you do this your mother and your grandfather sumali. 

By humiliating my first son you have also humiliated me. Now I'll leave you as your mother made me leave my first wife. Forgive me"

and goes away. After seeing Kubera and visharva going away, sumali laughs and pats dashanana's back and says 

" My son you have shown me your true form, and also you have given me my kingdom back. I will make you a promise today that after my rule you will be throned as the next king of Lanka".

Dashanana was not happy with what he did but he had to fulfill his promise. 

After many years sumali was on his deathbed calls for his grandchildren and there was a fourth member in the family. It was the last son Vibhishana. 

Sumali calls dashanana and holds his hand tightly and says

"Son, I can feel the light. I don't know if I will go to heaven Or hell, I want you to know one thing, Never trust anyone. The first rule of being a king my boy. Yes, you will be the next king of Lanka" And takes his last breath. 

The new king of Lanka was throned with a big ceremony and festive celebration was all over the kingdom. Vibhishana was made the King's adviser. 

Even after he became a king, he never forgot to worship Lord Shiva. 

He would perform puja, sandhyavandane, and meditate every day. He had finished learning all the 112 poses of yoga. 

He built a temple for shiva, in the middle of his kingdom. He became a wise ruler of Lanka. 

The demons who were mistreated and used were now living like normal citizens. He said to the people that Shiva is the one who had given them everything. All citizens of the kingdom were shiv Bhaktas(Devotees). The art which he had learned, not wanting to waste he opened a school for the children where he used to teach about what life is all about, the Vedas he had learned, yoga and meditation. 

Lanka was the only kingdom where demons and people   

co-existed with each other in peace. 

Kaikesi wanted to make lankha powerful. Thou the demons could live for thousands of years without getting any disease but could be killed or would die of old age. 

So she ordered her son dashanana to impress Brahma dev to grant him a boon of eternal life. As per her orders, he leaves the castle and goes to the dense jungle of Lanka to meditate. He meditated for 100 years without moving an inch, still, Brahma was not impressed. 

Dashanana to impress Brahma dev he takes a vow saying 

"Brahma dev, I have meditated for 100 years but still you haven't appeared, now I Dashanana take a vow to cut off my ten heads one by one till you come to see me" 

and starts to cut his head by calling "Brahma deva".

When he started to cut his last head, suddenly Brahma holds his hands and tells

" Son, you have proved your devotion and you have impressed me, tell me what boo do you want"

Dashanana falls on Brahma's leg and says

"Deva, I am really blessed to see my creator and my great grandfather in front of me. 

I have everything my Lord, I have all the luxury and the blessings of you and my mother. But as per her order, I called you. She wanted to make me stronger".

Brahma

" My boy, your strength has surpassed all the dev-gan, and you are the only man to learn all the four Vedas, so not as a boon but for your knowledge, I will give you another name, Poulastya(pow-lass-tya) (related to his grandfather Pulastya rishi, father of Visharva). 

So then, what is that you want"

Dashanana

"Deva, I know you can grant me eternal life but you won't do that because it will go against the law of your Creation. Lord I want my life to only end when someone or something hits my Nabi(Bellybutton) and no one should know about my secret until I say them, that's all Deva".

Brahma laughs and says

"You are one wise man dashanana. You have not only impressed me with meditating but also you have surpassed my intelligence. I will grant you what you asked. Tathastu"

And vanishes.
