My Lockdown Lessons

My Lockdown Lessons

6 mins

Like any other similar and simple evening that typical day was also normal and not so boring and a happy ending. Back from work every one of us sitting and relaxing on the sofa of our living room pressing up the tv remote button up and down trying to see what's happening around us and surrounding us and selecting a movie or serials channels I got startled and stuck by something. I don't remember the time but it was around 8:15pm or 8: 20pm when Narendra Modi our prime minister declared complete lockdown.

At that specific moment of time, I was speechless and really very much felled that my fingers and the whole body is becoming numb and I can feel cold blood flowing through my body to my brain. I was just like out of myself or my mind because all of a sudden is going to stop from tomorrow morning to when the date and day are uncertain and everything on my side is fully messed up. Storms are blowing over my mind as there is lots of work to be done is left. I am a working person there are many files to be completed and submitted on time and so on. Beside this, I am an author I have submitted one book to be published which will slowly but will be published soon.

The one thing which is making more upset is my interview which was going to be published in one magazine will be postponed to a later uncertainty. Ohh!! God what will happen I can't think of it anymore. Everything in front of my eyes is becoming blurred. I can't hear the news anymore and bear this tension. I went straight to my room turn off all the lights and went to sleep.  later around 10:30 I woke up and had my dinner and then again went to sleep. The next morning; again one horrible news our maid will not be coming because of the lockdown my mom said. So I have to forcefully pull myself out of the bed to help my mother in household works.

Till date everyone in my family and friends knows that I don't like to do cleaning and washing. And cooking I like it but not very much. In a word you can say I am not a person who likes cleaning. Though I like to wake up early in the morning when there is a holiday there is a big no to my morning wake up routine. But you know that every day does not begin with the same thing it begins with new things so as now onwards my day will begin with cleaning things and help my mom. I start by cleaning my own cozy slightly messy yet beautiful room. I wore an apron for my own safety if in case certain dust makes my clothes dirty.

While cleaning I felt nice Infact very much good but at first it would be very boring and tiring yes it would be a little tiring if you were not used too it. After setting up my whole room I went to the kitchen to help my mother in making breakfast. I asked her what we are going to have for our breakfast on 1st day of phase 1 lockdown. She told we are going to have boiled eggs, garlic bread with veg mayonnaise and bananas. I don't like breads so I prefer to take fresh orange juice instead of garlic bread. I first sanitised my hands and started applying some mayonnaise on the bread which my parents are going to have I thought after applying a layer of mayonnaise the bread looks delicious so I took a bite of it. Hmmm it's yummy really very tasty. So I made one bread for mine also. After having my bread and juice I went to the balcony to put the leftover unwashed clothes inside the washing machine and added some washing powder on top of the clothes and switched on the machine and then I went to my room to take some rest. After few minutes I went to check if the clothes has been washed or not. I switched off the machine and took out the clothes because washing is completely done. I put the clothes on a bucket and handed to my mother who will now hang the clothes outside. Then after I have my bath and took some fruits which I cutted and putted inside the freezer before going for bath.

Similarly all other days passed of phase 1 lockdown but one evening I learnt how to iron cotton clothes from my mother. After the phase 2 lockdown has been announced I thought beside doing this casual everyday work If I opt for something interesting and different so I went on searching on Google on my laptop and I found a pretty nice thing to cover the rest of the lockdown. I chose to make best out of waste. While cleaning up my room I found some torn up craft papers, dirty cardboard etc so I thought to make use of those things. Its a very lengthy process yet it is creative. I tried to make things using those materials and decorate my home and I am very happy on the success of the effort that I have made. When the third lockdown announced I thought of trying some cooking skills.

I searched for some innovating food recipes to make which will give my and my family tastebuds a new taste. I tried some recipes going viral on Facebook's and YouTube's. I tried dalgona coffee and Oreo cake and ice creams with Oreo biscuits. Hence we are unable to go outside to eat some fast foods so I tried to make some panipuris, chaats, pizzas. The panipuris are crispy and perfect and the chaats were amazingly delicious. I made all the things offcourse with the help of my mother. Above all I didn't forget to sanitize my hands after each work. On the fourth lockdown I made a timetable and with some time management I tried managing to help my mother in household works and to cook some new things for my family and apart from those to make best craft things.

During this lockdown I learned many things. I learnt to help my family in day to day work and keep ourselves and the people and places surrounding us clean and safe. I learnt to create bonding which is mere less important but most valuable thing. I grew the most unbreakable bond with my family during this lockdown. I played with my pet dog. These are the things I can bet everyone has learned and feeled during the lockdown. Many ups and downs came but I with my family overcame those things and made this lockdown successful and a winner.
