The light was switched on, it kept bothering me as it was too bright in the room during a movie but, Amy was never a fan of horror movies so we kept it on. I was sleeping over because she thought I was still traumatized by the incident that happened last week. Our whole girl's football school team had a camping night and all of them were killed due to a fire in the cottage. I survived because I was in the washroom during the whole incident. Amy paused the movie seeing me lost in thoughts, she said “it's not your fault you couldn’t have done anything about it” trying to assure me. “Yes”, I said, “I know but it feels like I cheated death or something like that, I wasn’t supposed to live”. Amy said “it's nothing like that, I was on the team but I resigned last year, if I wouldn’t have then I would be there too many people could have been there but weren’t, its no cheating it's luck.” I thought to myself that she was right and then laid back on the bed, she continued “but death doesn’t like luck much does it?” I shrugged and said “I don’t know I paused and then asked ‘why are you asking that?” she just smiled and said “sometimes life pays debts by selling itself to death.” I said “I don’t understand… what’s going on Amy? Are you alright?” she sounded very off. She said, “I might be, it just that we never really know what is there for us, life sometimes just surprises us doesn’t it?”

I said “yeah I guess” and told her that this talk was making me uncomfortable and I wanted to sleep. She said “ok” and walked very slowly to close the door and said in a creepy tone almost nothing like her own voice “when death doesn’t like being cheated it sends someone, Someone who will come creeping behind you in your sleep late at night, sending cold shivers down your spine as it crawls in the darkest corners of your mind. So scary it makes your palms sweaty and your blood cold…” I told her to stop it immediately and that she was crossing the line here!! as she switched off the lights and came near me slowly crawling on the bed and then… started laughing hysterically saying "gosh you were so scared! I mean I am the scaredy-cat, not you!." She came up and sat beside me and held my hand as if about to comfort me but before she could she felt her palms getting sweaty and the room became colder and colder she started to shiver and as she looked into my un humanly black eyes I whispered in her ear “you are right, you don’t get to cheat and I didn’t want to go alone” I saw her lifeless eyes as the last drop of her blood got cold and still…
