CHAPTER 1

Let’s walk together is the story of a girl named Supriya. She comes from a small village where people believe in black magic and evil spirits. She always tries to escape the haunted stories because she believes that everything is just a myth and we just imagine it, nothing else.

After completing her graduation, she applied for further studies, but due to her financial problems, she thought that a part-time job could help her, so she joined an IT company. She was a very punctual and hardworking girl.

But one day, a heavy workload caused Supriya to be late and she had to leave her workplace at exactly 12:00 after completing all her tasks. Everyone except Supriya had left the office at their usual times.

Security guard: Mam! It’s too late now, I’ve to close the office, can you please leave. After knowing the time, she packed up all her things.

Supriya: Is the office cab available or not?

Security guard: I’m sorry Mam, they’ve already left, but don’t worry, the bus station is only 10 minutes away from our office. If you hurry, you can still get a bus now, otherwise, you’ll miss the last one!

After leaving the office, Supriya set off on foot in search of a vehicle. It was already very late, not a single person could be seen on the street.

It was completely dark and so quiet that even the sound of dry leaves could be heard when stepping on them. She thought about calling a cab, but her phone’s battery was dead and there was no other way left so she thought to walk to catch the last bus.

Her home was very far from the office, so she started walking. She carried an office bag and a water bottle with her.

After walking a few steps, Supriya saw a little girl sitting on the street bench and crying a lot. Even on normal days, she saw a lonely child crying on the street bench, and every day Supriya ignored it, but today it was going to be different, and instead of ignoring the child, Supriya decided to talk to the little girl, but Supriya wasn’t aware that the girl wasn’t a normal girl! Supriya moved towards the girl.

Supriya: Why are you crying and sitting here alone? Where is your mother?

Girl: She started crying loudly!

Supriya: Ok! Please don’t cry and offered her water. The girl didn’t drink the water but just said one thing to Supriya that frightened her.

Girl: “How are you, Supriya? Do you know where my older sister is, if you don’t know, then my hands are enough!

Supriya: What! How do you know my name?

She was completely shocked and dropped her bottle and went back, and she ran away in fear.

After a few minutes of running, Supriya finally reached the bus stop, and as luck would have it, there was a bus nearby. Supriya sat down on that bus.

Supriya: Why is there no passenger on this bus?

Bus driver: It’s the last one, that’s why! Don’t worry Mam, we’ll drop you safely to your destination, Indrapuri!

Supriya: confused and many things were going through her mind, how the girl knows her name, and why she said her hands are enough?

Bus driver: Mam, your stop!

Supriya: Got off the bus, moved a little, and was shocked that how the bus driver knows where her stop is. She didn’t even tell the bus driver her stop location.

She was scared and shaking, she gathered some energy and walked towards her flat, and finally, she reached her flat, but she felt that someone is following her and calling her name and asking where her sister is.

She entered her house and locked the door.

Supriya thought it was just a hallucination because of the workload, nothing more. She didn’t even change her clothes and went to sleep.

After that incident, Supriya couldn’t sleep, all the bad memories of the incident were circling in her head.

Suddenly, the same little girl who had been on the street came into Supriya’s room. The girl had the same bottle that Supriya had offered her, but the bottle was full of blood.

Girl: Supriya, take your bottle, why did you drop it?

Supriya tried to wake up, but she felt that someone was holding her hands and legs so that she couldn’t move!

Supriya: What do you want? Why are you following me? Please leave me alone!

Girl: Supriya, let’s play a game!

Supriya: What kind of game? Please leave me alone!

Supriya screamed: “Help”!

The little girl disappeared for a second, and Supriya thought she was gone and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, Supriya was startled to see that the girl was sitting on her chest and trying to strangle her neck.

The little girl tried to wring Supriya’s neck, but Supriya mustered all her strength, pushed the girl aside, and ran into the other room.

Supriya locked herself in the bathroom and started crying in fear, she had scratch marks on her neck and it started bleeding.

Girl: Where are you, Supriya? Come out, you can’t hide from me!

Supriya locked herself in the bathroom and began to cry in fear, she had scratch marks on her neck and it began to bleed.

Girl: Where are you, Supriya? Come out, you can’t hide from me!

Supriya: No! Please leave me alone! Please

Girl: “You killed my sister, you killed my family, now I am going to kill you!”

Supriya: No, I didn’t kill your family.

The Girl started to strangle her neck again, but Supriya pushed her and screamed, “Help! Help!

The little girl then pulled out a knife from somewhere and was about to kill her and tried to speak further, there is a knock at the door, Supriya open the door, it’s me, Shivam, your cousin!

The girl disappeared with no sign of an attack either, everything was in position.

Supriya turned on the light, opened the door, and sat there for a few minutes with her mouth open and trembling. Shivam asked, “What happened and why are you shaking as if you saw a ghost?

Supriya: Shut up! Really, I saw a ghost and the ghost even tried to kill me.

Shivam: Please, you better be joking.

Then Supriya started crying and Shivam felt that she was not joking and went to the kitchen to bring her a glass of water.

Shivam: It’s ok, I’m here now, don’t cry and tell me what happened.

She explained everything to her cousin. She showed nail marks on her neck that testified to the unusual activity with her.

She and her cousin planned to shift her to another town the next day. She left that company and never returned to Haunted Road.

She joined a new company, but after that incident, she was afraid of small children, and it was almost impossible for her to recover from her condition.

Shivam: Supriya, let us just forget everything and start a new journey here.

Supriya: I never thought that a normal road would become a ghost road for me. This incident became the most unforgettable event for me.

But after that incident, Supriya thought that it was over now and she would never go there again and work late into the night, no matter what company she joined, but she was unaware that it was just the beginning.

One day, when she came out of the office, Supriya heard a similar voice that she was afraid of!

Girl : Hello Supriya! Why did you kill my family?
