Justice Prevails

All my life, I had been waiting for the verdict that was to be delivered today. My father was a diligent and hardworking security guard in a renowned jewelry store right in the middle of the busy market of our city. During a robbery, he was shot dead, while fearlessly trying to do his duty. Those days, the shops did not have any security cameras and the only way the robbers had been identified was with the help of eye-witness testimonies. The three masked robbers were caught a few months later. They were in and out of the prison continuously, while we waited for a judgment to be passed to decide their fate.

Upon their arrest and strong interrogation, all the stolen jewelry had been recovered by the police and had been returned to the shop’s owner, my father’s employer, after due verification. By then, the rich jewelry shop owner had also lost interest in the case after so many years and had simply moved on with his business. Needless to say, he did compensate our family well at the beginning, but gradually we were on our own, paying the lawyer, doing the court deeds, and spending our money on bringing justice to my father’s death.

It all concluded today; ten years after the horrific incident; ten years after my father’s sorrowful demise. The three robbers were persecuted for the theft, while one of them was given life imprisonment for the killing of my father. My family cried in the courtroom upon hearing the verdict. After spending all our money, time, and efforts on this court case for all these years, we got justice. My father’s sacrifice and his love for his duty was rewarded. It is true! In the battle of good versus evil, the good eventually wins. Justice is sometimes delayed, but not denied.
