Gratefully Right
Gratefully Right
The chirping sound of the sparrow, my everyday visitor, was very different today. I just woke up from the bed to realize I had missed setting my alarm clock. So, I am already late for the day. With limited left to kick start my day, I rushed to the washroom to find my younger sibling Ganesh, already occupied it. What a tough day, "I just wish I could go back to yesterday and set all things right" With this thought in my mind, I finally managed to rush to my parent's room. I was lucky this time as I have the time and space to get ready now. All I could think was to get ready quickly and start for my office. Suddenly, I could smell the aroma of flavours from the sambar, and I guessed the breakfast as my favourite Idly, sambhar and chutney. My guess turned out to be correct. What more can I ask for on this special day?
Well, the time ticked 8:00 on the clock, and my mother, Hema, just reminded us that "It is breakfast time. Please come to have hot Idlies".All of us at home rushed to the dining table and enjoyed the most therapeutic breakfast. My Father, Balu, wished me good luck with my work. Yes, today was my first day of work. So, at 8:30 AM, I left for work.
As a graphic designer by profession, my job always demanded creativity. Hence, I would sometimes incorporate real-life references into my designs to make my designs look more creative and relatable. For instance, the design that helped me land this job was the illustration of the fight between myself and my brother. Depicting the duel between us in an illustration while portraying the two siblings resembling Marvel superheroes was the design I created. Be it a critical situation or a happy moment, I always have my family by my side. So, I consider them to be my biggest support. Although we argue and have small sibling quarells, my brother has forever is my proud supporter at hom
e and outside. He respects my decisions and encourages me throughout. Also, he dropped me at my office as it was my first day. His smile on face reminded me that irrespective of the number of arguements between us, all those insignificant memories would vanish with that one supportive smile.
As I stepped into my new office, I had all the fears any fresher would have on the first day of the job. Though everyone welcomed me with a warm smile, I still could not surpass the newbie feel. In a big office, my work desk was just near the window. I managed the first half of the day. However, my mind got occupied with random questions, like, "Should I continue in this job or do something else in my life". For a 24-year-old girl, this question would always come to me. However, the time was around 4:00, and I heard the same chirping sound. Surprisingly, I looked at the window near my desk. It was the same bird that I would watch everyday morning near the window of my bedroom. When it flew away, "I just realized that the precious thing I possess is what I have already, and I need not worry about anything. Yes, so true sometimes we forget to observe that the most important things in our would always be with us, but our ignorance would have made us suffer. Instead of constantly searching for happiness and success elsewhere, one must appreciate what they have." Having this thought run in my mind, I decided to start back on my work. As gratitude is a great way of expressing one's success, I completed my first day of work by doing a creative illustration depicting my thoughts on gratitude. Once I emailed the design to the manager, I received a call from him, and he started praising my skill and mentioned that hiring me was their best decision of the month. So, feeling grateful, I returned home.
So, I now know that what happens in my life is just the consequence of my actions. There is no need to rewind or travel back in time to set things right.
