An Unforgettable Eve
An Unforgettable Eve
On a pleasant evening, I recognize these footsteps and, yes, remember that this sound is very close to my heart. As the foots progressed to take upstairs, I began to recollect the old memories. We used to play badminton together in the evening, sit down to chat for a while, and after our game, we would rush inside the home for a quick shower and get ready for dinner. After dinner, a one-hour-long reading and writing session would prolong until we hear, " It's already late." We would swiftly finish our glass of milk and go to our bed to listen to beautiful bedtime stories narration by our granny. I never thought that the goodness I experienced in every evening would stay as a memory in my heart.
With immense courage, I took up my spectacles and stood in front of the long dressing mirror. I cleaned, wiped, and wore them. I pulled a pen from the writing table and proceeded to write, "Dear Brother, you are so special to me. I wish that we could have those long conversations, but my vocal problem in my old age has pushed me to an extent where I can't speak any words. I wish for that one time to say you are the best younger brother in the world." I rolled the paper and packed it in an envelope, thinking to give it to him.
The foots reached my door and knocked mildly on my room door. "Brother, Can I come in?" I gently opened the door and smiled at him. A smile on his face reminded me that brothers need no words to communicate their thoughts. I put the envelope into my table draw and closed it forever. Our smiles alone can exchange thousands of words with one another.
