A group of 50 people was attending a seminar on happiness & success. Before the speaker began his lecture, he asked if anyone had a particular question. One attendee asked,

“Why is it that some really successful people are not really happy? Why aren’t we able to create a successful & a really happy world all around us ?”

The speaker gave each attendee one balloon asking them to write their name on it with a marker pen & place it in a small adjacent room. Once all were done, he said, “I give you five minutes.

Quickly go into the room & find the balloon with your name on it. The ones who do it first, win.” Everyone was frantically searching for their balloon, colliding with each other, pushing others around & there was utter chaos.

At the end of 5 minutes, only 10 people found their balloons. The speaker said, “Bravo to these 10 people. They are either the strongest or the smartest or the luckiest.

But 40 more balloons are still left inside. Now what?

I give you 5 more minutes & a twist. This time around, each one of you will go inside the room, pick a random balloon & give it to the person whom it belongs to.”

In 60 seconds, all 40 were out of the room with their respective balloons. The speaker then began, “You gave them their balloon & you eventually found your own.

The first time you tried to only think about your own balloon & created chaos. Only 10 of you were successful.

The second time, you thought about others, each one of you & you was successful much quicker & together.

Help someone & someone will help you. Give people happiness & you will find your own happiness. It’s the circle of life. We have made life a race. We have completely stopped thinking about each other. Everyone is frantically looking for their individual success & hence only a few of us - the strongest, the smartest or the luckiest have it. Help someone find their balloon & someone will find yours & give it to you...
