Ed & Em Ep 3

After frustrating hours of brain freeze, she decided to shut down her laptop.

"Time to explore Texas. Maybe writing has to wait a few more days."

She dressed up in skinny blue jeans, a white oversized shirt, a tied-up pony, a little blush & mascara, nude lipstick, and her favourite perfume. 

She don't remember when was the last time she did this, putting on some effort to dress up.

"Why am I doing this? Am I trying to impress Edward? No no no." She thought to herself.

Her phone beeped, bringing her back to reality. It was Sam. Her boyfriend. 

"Where are you? Nikita says you moved to Texas. Are you kidding me? Have you lost it? Was it a decision you shouldn't involve me in?" He cursed her.

"Enough Sam. I am done. I am not going to take this anymore. Also, it's my life, I don't need to involve you."

"Have you lost it, baby? You know I love you. Please come back."

Emma smirked knowing this was his pattern. Abusing. Being sweet and the same thing in the loop again.

"Bye Sam." She disconnected and looked at the mirror.

She still remembers the first time Sam had slapped her and later apologized saying he was frustrated after work.

Emma thought this would be just once and maybe he is actually stressed but this didn't stop until Emma threatened to involve his parent.

She wanted to leave him but when she is alone, she always crawls back to him.

"Not anymore. " Emma wiped off the makeup on her.

"Don't focus on any other guy Emma. Not now."

She heard noises of blowing horns. She looked down the window, Edward was waiting on his Jeep, looking all handsome, his long hair playing along with the wind. 

Emma couldn't stop admiring how effortlessly handsome he was. 

"He is trouble. For sure." She thought.

Edward signalled her to come down. She nodded. Put on her sneakers and went down the stairs.

"You are pretty. "

"And let me guess, you have said this to all the girls, especially the ones you bring into the barn." 

The expression on his face changed. "Don't tell Mom. I know you are her new favourite. 

Now Ma'am will you sit?" He opens the door.

"Being Gentleman.. funny".

"Yes, Mom. I can spot you." Ed said and Emma looked at his house to see Mary looking at them. She waved a Hi and smiled.

"So where are you taking me to?"

"Barn." He laughed.

Emma looked at him angrily.

"Chill. You are not my type anyway."

"God saved me. Amen "

"Funny. Anyway, I will take you to one of my favourite places. "

He drove through beautiful roads with barns, horses, cows, and many beautiful green trees.

Emma rested her head on the window enjoying the breeze touching her face, the clean air she was breathing, felt like she was transported to a different world.

When the vehicle stopped, she turned towards Ed. Behind him was a beautiful lake with huge trees on the shore giving shade. 

He parked the jeep in front of the lake and climbed on the Bonet. 

"Common." He led his hands. 

.Emma held it and climbed too. They both sat on the bonnet.

"This is beautiful Edward. Something I have never seen."

He smiled. "Told you. One of my favourites. And no chaos. Just peace. "

He leaned back and got 2 beers & opened it up and offered 1 to Emma.

"So Emma, what brings you here?"

"You. " She giggled.

"I meant Texas. Although I don't mind the other reason too " He winked 

"Finding myself. I am from NJ which is very different from here. It's fast. It's growing. I wanted to slow down."

Edward looked at her curiously. 

"That's it." She smiled.

Her phone rang again and she silenced it. 

"Too soon for me to ask?" She nodded.

They spent an hour or two discussing about them.

"Okay let's go to another favourite place of mine."

He drove to a bar.

"A bar? Why am I not surprised."

"Come. Keep your taunts for later. You don't want to mess up with your ride back home." 

"For a bar, it's pretty and has a vibe. "

"Told you. So what you wanna drink?"

"Anything. Just nothing too hard. Hey isn't that your girlfriend over there?"

"I don't have any girlfriend. It was just casual. Let me get the drinks."
