Celebrating My Worth
Celebrating My Worth
I woke up on the morning of my 40th birthday, excited and joyful. I couldn't wait to celebrate another year of my life with my loved ones. I couldn't wait to see what surprises my friends and family had planned for me. They always threw me a huge party, with cake, balloons, gifts, and lots of laughter. I loved being the centre of attention, and I felt grateful for having such wonderful people in my life.
I got dressed in my best outfit, hoping to impress everyone with my youthful appearance. I checked my phone, expecting to see dozens of messages and calls from my loved ones. But to my shock, there was nothing. No texts, no voicemails, no notifications. Nothing.
I tried to brush it off, thinking that maybe they were planning a surprise party for later. But as the day went on, I dropped hints and reminders, hoping that someone would remember. But no one did. I felt forgotten and unloved.
As the day went on, I sat alone with my thoughts, thinking about all the times I've celebrated my birthday in the past. I remembered the joy, the laughter, and the love that surrounded me. But now, I felt like I didn't matter.
As the evening approached, I began to feel hopeless and sad. I wondered if anyone truly cared about me. But then, a realisation hit me. The party wasn't what mattered. It was the love and appreciation from those around me that truly counted.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and made a decision to be optimistic and thankful for everything I had. As I blew out the single candle on my cake, I made a wish for the future. I wished for love, happiness, and meaningful connections with those who truly cared about me.
In that moment, I realized that I was valuable, not because of the party or the presents, but simply because I existed. And that was enough. From that day forward, I made a promise to cherish every moment, appreciate every person, and never take anything for granted.
