A Walk With My Love

Their footprints were washed away by the sea, there was no place for anything except love in their hearts. The wind glided over her skin, and the silence was broken by the crashing of the waves. She kept her head on his shoulders; he felt like he had the whole universe on him. She spotted a shooting star, and the child inside her wished for something. He saw her and asked, "What did you wish for, my love?" "How many times do I have to tell you, we are not supposed to tell or else it won't come true," she said, acting as though she was angry. "Sorry," he said in a harmonious voice. She hugged him tight, he put her into his strong arms, and carried her until his house. He took her to the balcony where he had arranged a candlelight dinner with the graceful sea view in the background, a pleasant scent of jasmine, rose petals welcoming her as the red carpet, and their favorite song started playing. He took her hands, locked them on her waist, and took gentle steps; they danced until they were exhausted. At the end of their dance, he pinched her red cheeks and said, "You have not forgotten a single step; it was our graduation day, and we were under the spotlight." She smiled with her eyes filled with happiness and concern. "Of course, how can I forget that? We tried our level best not to get caught by our parents!" She was looking as tranquil as the sea, with a long dress which was light green and had a tint of blue, with her elegant hair set free. The best part, her eyes were coffee brown, highlighted by a black outline. He was no less; his shiny hair was combed and styled. As a contrast to her dress, he was wearing a violet, silky and soft shirt; his body was too perfect for her to lay her head on him. He took a spoon of dessert and slid it down her lips. Her eyes were filled with tears of joy, and she exclaimed, "I don't want anything else in my life; you are the best person I can ever have!" and she put her head on his chest; she could hear his heartbeat. It was the best day of her life. He too got emotional and tugged her into his body; this continued for hours together. It was too dark and cold. Worried about her health, he said, "Let's go; it's too dark here," but didn't get any response. "Sweetheart," he called again, but still no reply. Wondering if she had slept, he took her off her chest and looked into her face. His face turned white, his throat dried; he couldn't control his tears; blood was pouring out of her mouth, and she was no more. He screamed his lungs out and cried his heart out. It started pouring heavily; the lights, the flowers, all the arrangements he had done got destroyed, including his heart. All the pain was washed out by the rain; he was completely shattered. "Only love can hurt this much," I guess. She was diagnosed with a rare condition of "genomics illuminates," a brain cancer a few months ago; there was no treatment as she was in her final stage. Doctors had told her journey might last only for two months; they had also told him not to tell her about her condition. He had tried his level best in hiding it from her. Even though he knew he would have to face a situation like this, he wanted to make every last second of her life an unforgettable memory. Her wish to the shooting star was that, "In her next life, she wanted him and only him forever....." He had failed to keep the secret; she already knew that it was their last walk next to the sea.
