When Expectations Die

When Expectations Die

2 mins
6

When expectations fall away,

Like clouds that shift but never stay,

The heart arise as light, the soul feels free,

Uncaged from hope’s captivity.

No weight of “should” or “might have been,”

No twitchy cry for what’s unseen,

The mind rests quiet, the spirit sings,

Content with life and simple things.

The chains of “more” no longer bind,

A gentle calm embraces mind,

What comes, it stays; what goes, it flies,

And wisdom sprouts where silence lies.

The world feels kinder, softer too,

Each moment shines with brighter hue,

No loss to mourn, no prize to chase,

Just inner stillness, vast as space.

We dream of crowns, of golden skies,

Yet find them vanish from our eyes;

But when no crown we dare demand,

Life places jewels in our hand.

The river flows, the seasons turn,

There’s nothing left we need to earn;

The air we breathe, the sky, the rain,

Are gifts enough, without complaint.

Woe cannot root, nor anger stay,

When want itself has sneaked away;

Desire once gone, the heart is whole,

Peace engraves its shrine in the soul.

No deals affect, no silent plea,

Just trust in life’s lucidity;

What leaves was never ours to own,

What comes is blessing, gently sown.

Then joy is not a transient guest,

It makes its home within the chest;

For freedom lives, serene, untied,

When expectation crumble aside.

So let hopes rest, and let them die,

No need to question how or why;

In stillness, life reveals its song,

And teaches we were whole all along.
