Un-masking Ourselves

Un-masking Ourselves

When a lovely year came to an end, started a horrible new year full of discontent.

Why do I have mixed feelings?

Am I ruined or better than before?

It just feels like someone slammed the door!

2020, a new year, a new decade,

Or should I say an appalling decade?

All was good until February popped up,

An awful virus, a world wide pandemic,

Entered and spoiled our magnificent planet.

We realized too late, this virus had already filled our plate.

Out of choices, the doctors said,

Stay at home , don’t go out.

I was horrified and miserable,

Do we really have to go through this atrociousness?

The schools shut down the shops were closed.

What can we do in this situation?

Sit at home with zero things to do?

I guess so!

The year was paused because of a nasty virus,

If it were a human being, I would call the police and get him arrested for life!

I was done struggling with this loathsome month!

I want to get out!

A month passed by,

School had started.

No, it’s not what you think,

We had online classes.

They were pretty good. They were not all bad.

Now I feel like a person with a meaningful life.

We can’t go through everything easily, can we?

Staying at home isn’t terrible.

Staying with family 24-7 isn’t awful either.

Home is the place where bonds are created,

And where families live a cheerful life.

Animals run freely, with no humans in control.

Humans stay trapped and learn their lesson,

From behind the door.

Why do people wear masks these days?

This is not how the world is supposed to be!

Only with unconditional love towards nature will we be able to unmask ourselves.

Because behind that mask we wear, there is a person with a big heart and a beautiful smile.

This lockdown isn’t a lockdown,

It’s just some time given to us by God,

So both humans and nature can breathe!
