Two Thrones: A Haiku Sequence
Two Thrones: A Haiku Sequence
1
Humble wooden chair—
Crown presses down on the head,
Both cradle the tired.
2
Plain, with honest grain,
Four legs grounded in the soil,
It bears daily weight.
3
The other, gold-wrought,
Gems ablaze beneath the light,
Burdened by the crown.
4
Yet both hold the shape
Of bodies slumped from duty,
Yearning for stillness.
