Twilight Dreams
Twilight Dreams
I sit down to roast the beans
The baby is crying, I go to feed
And he shouts"wheres my tea?"
Not leaving a moment for me
I dash through the kitchen,
Hand him his cup
The birds are chirping
All near our hut
Out in the garden
Flowers bloom with glee
Oh! how I wish it could be me
A day's hard work,
A days dream,
All can go unseen
And then a thought comes to me
I sit down for my twilight dream
One day i will be free
Of these shackles that bound my feet
One day i will be proud
Proud of my work proud of me
One day i will sit in the hall
And tell my girls my story
One day i will stand ,rather alone but on my feet
The dream breaks and reality creeps
Oh how dark, black and ugly
The baby cries I go to feed
I still need to roast those beans
He comes back home not a moment for me
He shouts'give me my food!"
And sits down to eat
Any day now he might leave
And not come back for days and weeks
Some work he has in the city
And I might get a moment free
A days hardwork
A days dream
All can go unseen
And then I am reminded of it
I sit down for my twilight dream
