True Essence of Freedom

I can see a child crying in the street, 

Begging for alms, his face red under scorching heat. 

His cries were unheard to the passing by, 

None seemed to bother, his urges defied.

I can see women being tormented and wailing, 

Their voices suppressed, their zest shaking.

Marks of virility imposed on their skin, 

Still afraid to stand up, indifferent they feign. 

I can see inequality and biases surging their heads high, 

Diffusing in the society, rights they nullify,

Justice and healthcare largely imperceptible to the inferior, 

A matter of concern, Independent India seemed to be unclear.

Independence stands for equality and a gust of open mind,

A better version of the country, for the sake of mankind. 

The rebels and the young forces are thus implored to ascend, 

To make this a land where all religions can blend.

With hills and plains, rivers and desert, my country leaves me in awe, 

Abode of millions and home to diversity and law, 

Even in darkness, her beauty and dignity always wrap,

I wish in every life, I can return back in her lap..
