"Tradition is not worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire."

"Tradition is not worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire."

Students gather to debate,

About a landmark past its prime,

One believing they already decided its fate,

Proclaimed that it's the end of the line.

A laugh rang out among the crowd,

As a young boy stared angrily back,

Jumping up to the front he then stood proud,

Proclaiming what it was that they lacked.

"You can not move on from the present,

Without first knowing the past",

If destruction on the old you remain hellbent,

Then it's dishonor on those before you'll have cast.

It's not wrong to do something different from tradition,

A few times here or a few times there,

But if one remains fixed on the idea of deviation,

It may very well become everyone else's burden to bear.

Dreamers and idealists have their strengths,

For they seek to have or achieve more,

But what lies before one shouldn't forsake,

They should instead seek to restore.
