The Words We Use
The Words We Use
The words we use
They’re so overused
I worry we’ll get used to them
Like how we’re used
To the way our hands find each other
In the darkness of the night
And how your face lights up
With the glow of the moon
When it finally finds mine
Or how we’re used
To hearing those three little words
Have they lost their meaning
For you certainly haven’t
Lost me
I love you
I miss you
I can’t wait to hold you —
When I say them
I mean them
No matter how many times
I repeat them
But the words we use
They’re so overused
I worry we’ll get used to them
So don’t get used to my love
My love
Instead,
Embrace me
Like it might be the last time
Kiss me
Like you don’t know if we’ll ever meet again
Love me
Like you’ve never loved before
And promise me
You’ll never let me go.
