This Is Not a Love Poem
This Is Not a Love Poem
This is not a love poem
about a mutually shared
psychosis full of separate
and shared delusions.
This is not a love poem,
or a fairytale co-written
with narratives that compete
and culminate in tragedy
worthy of O. Henry
or Shakespeare.
This NOT A LOVE poem.
L o v e is not the stuff
of rom-coms, the sad poetry
of Lord Byron, or ballads
of bygone eras.
Love is within,
and everything
that sparks it
does so because you
decide to let it.
This is not a love poem.
Love doesn’t need words-
love is in your eyes.
You are the poetry
in the cool autumn breeze
that kisses your cheek.
Love is witness.
If you want a love poem,
Breathe,
Be.
