The Times of Covid

It's been way too long,

That we have sung our favourite song.

'May God bless the boundless land,

May our opportunities do unimaginably expand.'

Well, I'll be returning to school as fast as I ever can.

Being so extraordinarily excited hadn't originally been on plan.

It was because of the unwelcome pandemic,

That staying at home had become quite too poetic. 

I do not say for all,

But, being happy on my terms was the only call.

Deprived of life, covid did teach a new way of living,

The times were bad, however some new bells did soothingly ring.

I do not know for all,

But the long-lost scriptures did pull up the old scenario of a dark pall.

The computers turned us rather nerdy than too cool,

I blame technology for bringing to home the far-off and distant school.

I do not say for all,

But I didn't really know how to crawl,

Pull through rather.

Pull through the times of covid,

When life, I'd say had become dangerously timid.

I do not say for all,

But, many had to lose the loved ones only because of the unloving times loathed by all.

I hope the ones above find some place in heaven, 

And shine so bright a colour in the rainbow's seven.

I do not say for all,

But I'd definitely wait till the rain should fall,

So that I get to meet the ones away,

And let them know that they'd always be welcomed over at our place in future on any given day. 

I do not say for all, 

But I observed life, however giant, however small.

Thoughts and actions did not quite rhyme,

Yet, the pandemic was an experience of a lifetime.
