THE SLAVE GIRL: THE STRUGGLE FOR LIFE
        BY SANJAY YADAV

During the morning,
I walked along the footpath,
Where I saw a small girl
Sitting alone.
Her face looked different,
Filled with sadness and hardship.

Suddenly, I went near her.
I saw her covered with dust.
She was a hardworking girl,
But she had nothing with her
No home, no comfort,
And no one beside her.

When I came close to her,
I sat and talked with her
For a few moments.
I listened to every word she spoke,
And her words
Made me deeply emotional.

She was alone upon the footpath.
She had lost her parents,
Yet she continued struggling
To survive each day.

When I left that place,
I could not forget her.
My heart remained filled
With emotions for her.

During the night,
I returned to the same place.
I saw her sleeping
Upon the footpath.
After a few moments,
I came to know
That she had not eaten
Any food
Or drunk any water.

I gently woke her
And gave her some food and water.
She ate the food herself
And drank the water.

A beautiful smile appeared
Upon her face.
Her smile
Brought happiness to my heart
And gave me strength.
I knew that I had helped her
For that moment,
But I also knew
That I could not be there
Every day.

This is a situation
That we can see everywhere.
It is not only girls
Who suffer like this,
But many poor people
Struggle every day
For food and survival.

They work like slaves
For their daily bread,
While the rich live
With many comforts.
Rich people can buy
Many things whenever they wish,
While poor people
Often struggle
For even the necessities of life.

Yet many poor people
Still find happiness
Within their difficult lives.
They know that they must struggle
Everywhere and every day,
But they continue living
With hope, happiness, and love.

When people show humanity
And help those who are suffering,
I feel happiness in my heart.
Such kindness allows us
To see the real world
And understand the struggles
Of other human beings.

I salute those poor people
Who struggle on the footpaths
And in difficult places,
Yet continue their lives
With courage, happiness, and love.

Oh, my God,
Please keep a smile
Upon every suffering face.
Give them food, hope, dignity,
Love, and respect.

Let no child sleep hungry.
Let no innocent heart
Feel forgotten.

May humanity remain alive
Within every human heart,
And may every person
Help another person
When life becomes difficult.

This is my prayer to Thee,
My Lord:
Bring hope to the poor,
Strength to the helpless,
And happiness to every life.
