THE SILENCE

THE SILENCE

Could silence be deafening to break the eardrum?

Yes, it was the deadly silence killing me, my every cell

I prayed Oh God, at least the blowing wind could rattle

My tightly shut dark windows make some ghostly noise.

It was, in fact only days of silence, since I heard him

But to me, it was an eternal life lonely, deathly silence

Restlessly like a caged wounded animal in despair I

Moved round and round till my legs started buckling

Oh! As if God’s blessing, the Angels’ voice called\

Just only one word, from him, drenched me in a shower

Of tender warmth, care, love and all rolled together

He had time only for that one word to whisper to me.

Among the raining bullets deadly shelling all around,

He, my love, a soldier stands guarding the border,

Guarding his motherland is his first duty, I know well

I will wait for him all my life for his voice to call again
