The Riverbank Psalm

The Riverbank Psalm

3 mins
333

The calm of the riverbank,

Kissed by the moonlight.

The fabric of my thoughts,

Adorned by the starry night.

“Beautiful it was, beautiful will it ever be”,

Packed the wolf, with some tears in his howl.

The glimmer in its face, that the full moon gave.

Timelessly etched while she hid behind the clouds,

The forlorn wolf and his nowhere cry,

Signed off by her pristine crescent,

Goodbyes kissed for the lonely nights.

The calm of the riverbank,

Kissed by the moonlight.

My torrential downpour,

Clogged by the mystics of the night.

“Beautiful it was, beautiful will it ever be”,

The crickets in the bushes, beats to his Psalm,

His soulful scream amidst a gentle calm.

The nightwalker with his canine,

With a heart engulfed in a cathartic famine,

Roamed about the heightened roofs,

In the lap of the forest, meeting his friends in green,

With Hugs and kisses, by the breeze so clean.

The calm of the riverbank,

Kissed by the moonlight.

The face of my thought stream,

Perished with the dark clouds.

“Beautiful it was, beautiful will it ever be!”

When the walks were done, and the day came calling,

The thunder-eyed wolf rested on the rock,

Pillowed by his melancholy, blanketed by his tears,

Gentle sleep it was, a sleep of calm,

The final ounce of her light, cut ribbons in black,

Marking his shut-eye into a dreamless slumber,

“Goodbye”, she said, riding with the clouds,

Into a haven destined for her, while the sky blues peeked in.

The calm of the riverbank,

Wrapped by her moonface.

The Psalm of my spirits,

Washed away by the current!

“Beautiful it was, Beautiful will it ever be!”
