The Ringtone I Never Changed

The Ringtone I Never Changed

Before you were mine, before you knew,
I chose one little song that sounded like you.
You were just a dream I secretly held,
A love I kept where no one could tell.

I saved that ringtone only for your name,
Though back then, you never felt the same.
You weren't my love, yet somehow you were,
The sweetest feeling my heart would prefer.

Years quietly passed, and seasons changed,
Somehow our distant hearts rearranged.
The boy I once loved from far away,
Became the one who chose to stay.

Now when my phone rings with that familiar tune,
My heart still smiles like it did back then, too.
But now I don't just hear a melody play,
I hear the voice of the man who calls me his every day.

So many things have changed along the way,
The dreams, the years, the words we say.
But whenever your name lights up my screen,
That same old ringtone still makes my heart serene.

Maybe one day our hair turns silver and white,
And our youthful stories fade out of sight.
Yet if my phone could ring beyond this life,
I'd still keep that melody because it once made you mine.

Everything may change, as all things do,
Time may take away the years we knew.
But one thing will remain, even when everything is gone,
The ringtone I chose for you will never be changed.
