The Mahogany Tree
The Mahogany Tree
Dawning my eyes to mornings and sunshines
Is such a task until,
Your memories linger on my senses
As fresh as Mahogany tree
Planted outside the balcony...
I pay my first visit of the day under its shade!
The day unfolds
Easing into reality with a large cup of tea,
That's Predominately gingerly oriented,
And less sugar,
I gulp most of it
To brisk to that sip
Where your thoughts taste like cardamom I forgot to add in there...
Ignoring you was never my cup of tea!
As the day transitions to an afternoon
And I am all soaked up in a sweat
Head to toe
Standing under the realm of a fan
That loans nothing but bad warm air!
Struggling to save me from evaporating
I wonder how these palms never seem to dry
Resembling your reminiscence
That keeps me drenched
Until I start to melt!
Evening knocks on the door
And I run to welcome it
With milk and cookies
Only that it comes with a companion
Who prefers coffee and cupcakes.
Not that I complain,
But he always wants something i've run out of...
I arrange him both somehow
So, he stays...
Until the night brews in,
And he's all set at the door
While his companion is long gone...
Savouring cupcake dreams on his lips,
And
The exhausted Mahogany smell on his shirt...
"We'll meet again", he exclaims!
To which I wonder
Will, he ever leave,
Or stay back...
Loaning his leftover essence to the tree?
