The Letter

It's weird how the littlest things have the greatest effect,

Like the gift you made after we just met.

Perhaps just a little letter,

But that alone made my life better.

It didn't have a lot written in it,

But it had made my eyes lit.

Maybe in times of darkness they were right,

The most unexpected times in life will come light.

But where is that light gone now?

Have you really broken our vow?

A vow to never let go,

And always keep each other close.

They said promises are meant to be broken and they were right,

And now I stand alone, watching the diminished light.

Wondering why in life did I ever trust,

As I feel my heart slowly rust.

I should have noticed the times you played pretend,

But I never wanted us to end.

I though we could go on forever,

But looks like god never wanted us to be together.

Now I know it's time to get over you,

To turn the page and start anew.

No more heartache, no more pain,

Just a chance to live again.

I know I will again see light,

Glowing through my dark nights .

I know in my life will come someone better,

And shine just like your little letter.
