The Legends

The Legends

I'm moving to a town, I don't know anyone.

The people seem nice as the smiles have begun.

They say 'Hi' and I make conversation, they're sweet.

They said because I'm new if I needed anything they'd help me.

Walking back to my car, I hit the pedal and go far.

I miss my friends from way back when I look at the stars.

He told me that was 'Draco' and we made a joke about how

my first love was a blonde bully from a magical book- now,

I stare at the pages of the same story.

I suffocate as I think back to what could've been glory.

Conquests won and friends until the dawn comes,

we could've been something for the legends, no?

We all went our separate ways after the honeymoon phase.

We sprinted out because our homes were ablaze.

Does that exist with someone you can't forget about?

The feeling of not knowing quite how,

You can walk back and hit the pedal to go far away.

I miss them because they were more than just soulmates.

Saying things like 'other half' and yelling till we cry to laugh-

those were the days that i wished we could forever stay.

I stare at the pages of the same story.

I suffocate as I think back to what could've been glory.

Conquests won and friends until the dawn comes.

We could've been something for the legends, no?

And listen, I held on hard, believe me I did.

I have the weapons and pictures I said I hid.

Because I can't let go of something this special.

How could you?

You were diary entries for a whole year.

On or off the road, we always steered

The same - how is that not memorable?

How could you?

I stare at the pages of the same story.

Who knew we had different tales all along?

I saw colours and poems and drawings of those mornings,

while yours were mostly blank and some torn.

We could've been legends, no?

Split the palace in 8 and for each of us a throne.

We would've been legends, no?

Drink to fate and call the road to come our home.

We should've been legends, no?

History was to be made ours but now I do it all alone.

I stare at the pages of the same story.

Blank as I think back to what could've been glory.

Conquests won and friends until the dawn comes.

We could've been something for the legends, no?
